An own goal from Cluj’s Portuguese captain Cadu gave Bordeaux the win at home a fortnight ago, and the hosts could have won by more; Cluj, though have shown that they can compete with the best, with a 2-1 win in Roma and a 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea.

That draw with Chelsea was not undeserved and they have been superb defensively at home in recent weeks; they have 5 clean sheets out of their last 6 home games (albeit in the Romanian league).

Bordeaux’s good run of 4 wins and a draw came to an end at the weekend with a 0-1 loss away to Nancy, but that result was unfair on Laurent Blanc’s side who had two-thirds of possession and twice as many shots.
