After two heavy losses at home to Man Utd (0-3) and away at Villarreal (3-6) in the Champions’ League and a terrible start to their domestic season, manager Bruce Rioch was sacked and Aalborg are now under caretaker manager Allan Kuhn.
Results haven’t improved much, though and he has two draws in the Danish league so far; relegation is a serious worry and they are 3rd-bottom with just 10 points from 12 games.
Aalborg’s home record has been their main failing, and from 7 home games in the CL and the league, their record is a miserable 0-2-5 and bookies haven’t given them much chance of turning that around in this game, with Villarreal priced at an average of $1.42 to win.

Since their meeting in Spain two weeks ago, Villarreal have had some mixed form and their games have continued to be high-scoring; they drew 4-4 at home to Atletico, lost shockingly 0-5 to Segunda Liga side Ejido in the cup and won 4-1 away to Bilbao at the weekend.
With Bilbao themselves struggling in La Liga this season (with just 5 points from their 9 games), that game could be the best gauge of how Villarreal may fair in Denmark; scoring has not been a problem for them this season and they can again bag a hatful against a demoralised Aalborg.
While they have been conceding goals of late, Villarreal’s away record in La Liga shows just 3 goals conceded in 5 games and they have been consistently strong away from home, last season taking the league’s best away points record.
With the fixed odds too low, the option could be the handicap Vilarreal win, as they have the ability to score at will, and against an Aalbog side that are poor at home and have been outclassed so far in the CL, the $2.20 at Stan James looks good.
