Lyon were comfortable 2-0 winners at home against Le Mans at the weekend, their second such scoreline in four days in the French league.
Benzema was on target again, his 8th league goal of the season and he already has 3 in the Champions League.
That result keeps Lyon at the top of the table and their mini-slump (which included a 0-3 defeat at Rennes followed by two draws) is perhaps starting to end.
They aren't without problems and their early season form is unusual in the context of the past few seasons, but they take on a Steaua side who are in more trouble.

The last meeting between these two sides saw Steaua race into a two goal lead before they collapsed and lost 3-5. That result saw the resignation of Marius Lacatus.
He's the second coach in 12 months to leave, the other being Gheorghe Hagi, and the pressure and outspoken criticism from chairman Gigi Becali was instrumental in both departures.
Romania's all-time most capped player Dorinel Munteanu has taken charge but any change in fortunes may be a time coming.
They drew 1-1 at leaders Dinamo Bucharest at the weekend - not in itself a poor result - but that does leave the side with a record of seven games without a win.
Steaua did manage a goalless draw at Fiorentina in their last away game in this competition, but with Lyon starting to find their rhythm again - and having hit five in Bucharest - they should be able to score in this encounter.
The odds are prohibitively low though. Instead, Benzema - who scored twice in that 5-3 victory - has scored in 9 of the 12 games in which Lyon have scored this season and he looks the main threat for Steaua.
Odds on him scoring anytime vary with the bookies, but William Hill offer a more attractive $2.20. This should not entice a huge bet, but worth taking up for a medium stake.
