Premiership league table

Hull will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season, that has seen them win 2-1 at home to Fulham and draw 1-1 away to Blackburn; manager Phil Brown will be hoping for another passionate display from Hull at the KC stadium against Wigan, but will find it tougher against Steve Bruce’s well organised Wigan side. Fulham are notoriously poor away from home over the past 2 seasons and Wigan should offer a far sterner test for Phil Brown’s side.

Wigan have been unfortunate in their 2 league losses so far (1-2 at West Ham and 0-1 at home to Chelsea) and restricted Chelsea superbly last week; the fact that Chelsea’s solitary goal came from a sublime Deco free-kick is something of a compliment to Bruce’s side. Wigan also created some very good chances to score and their new signings have settled in well, with Lee Cattermole in particular impressing in midfield against the Londoners last week.

With 2 losses in a row in the league, Wigan’s mid-week thrashing of lower league side Notts County (4-0), while expected, will do their confidence no harm, especially after so many shocks involving Premiership sides occurring on the same day.

Hull had the equal 2nd-best record at home in the Championship last season (13-7-3) and they should prove to be a difficult side to beat at home this season. Wigan’s away record last year was pretty woeful (at 2-5-12), but the vast majority of those points were gained by Steve Bruce, who only took charge half-way through the season, and Wigan are a different side under him.

These two records may meet somewhere in the middle, and the draw at $3.25 from Bet 365 and others could be worth a punt; incidentally, Wigan last season had seven 1-1 draws and Hull had nine 1-1 draws, so a small wager on the correct score could also be considered.
