Chelsea’s 4 ˝ year unbeaten home record came to an end against Liverpool (0-1) in their last home game, but Scolari’s side bounced back well to win 3-0 at Hull midweek; while Liverpool limited them well, they have been playing some good football and they will certainly be challenging for honours this season.
Their away form has been exceptional (5-0-0, with 14 scored and 1 conceded), but at home, including against Liverpool, they have yet to really get going, taking only 5 points from their last 4 home games (scoring 4 and conceding 3).

Sunderland have had an inconsistent start to the season with a 3-3-4 record and after a 2-1 win over Newcastle in the Tyne-Wear derby, they lost 0-1 away to Stoke; they did lose 0-3 at home to Man City 2 months ago, but apart from that game, they have been a tough side to break down, their other losses being by just the one goal to top sides Liverpool (0-1) and Villa (1-2).
While they were poor defensively last season, the additions of Anton Ferdinand, McCartney and Chimbonda have helped in that department and they have conceded a reasonable 6 goals in their last 7 league games.
Chelsea are at around $1.20 to win this game, and while this is understandable, given that they have won the last 7 meetings between the sides, Sunderland should not collapse too easily.
The last 5 head-to-heads have all been one or two goal wins for Chelsea and with Sunderland being stronger defensively this season, this could be the area to go for; Stan James offer $1.80 for Sunderland to win on the Asian handicap (Chelsea -2 goals), and the stake is returned for a two-goal loss.
