Premiership league table

Bottom-of-the-table Spurs face league leaders Liverpool in their third game since Ramos' sudden exit last week. They won their next fixture, 2-0 home to Bolton, and draw an astonishing game 4-4 at Arsenal, where they scored twice in injury-time to claim a point.

Those results, plus goals from Bent, Pavlyuchenko and Bentley amongst others, will give them renewed confidence and they should be expected to start moving up the table.

Liverpool won 1-0 against Portsmouth in midweek, which followed a 1-0 win at Chelsea. That win at Stamford Bridge ended Chelsea's unbeaten run at home in the Premiership, stretching back 4 1/2 years.

Liverpool, with a 8-2-0 record, are the only unbeaten team left in the Premiership and look resilient and focused. They have already beaten Man United and Chelsea and their only blemishes have been goalless draws against Stoke and Aston Villa.

However, whilst Spurs are playing under a new regime, their three defeats at home record should be taken with a pinch of salt.

They may have ended the midweek game in dramatic fashion, but they started it well too, scoring the first goal. That's something that Liverpool may well be wary of.

With Spurs looking capable of scoring in this game, the market for scoring first goal is a possibility. In every Premiership game in which Liverpool have conceded, they have lost the first goal. Also, only 3 of their goals in the league have come in the first half, so Spurs may see an quick start as key to their gameplan.
