After 4 straight losses in the league, West Ham were unfortunate to draw 1-1 at Middlesbrough at the weekend after conceding a late equaliser, but they have now gone 5 games without a win; those games did include losses against Arsenal and Man Utd (both 0-2), but they also lost at home to Bolton (1-3, giving them their only win in 10 games) and at Hull (0-1).

Everton's bad patch may be over after 2 successive victories at Bolton and at home to Fulham (both 1-0), even if those performances were less than convincing; successive clean sheets will give Everton’s defence some confidence as they have been poor so far this season, conceding 19 goals in their first 9 league games.

Everton have won in their last two visits to Upton Park, both coming within 3 days at the end of last year (in the League Cup and the Premiership); with West Ham struggling with injuries and in bad form at the moment, a revitalised Everton can take the points again here, and the $2.80 at William Hill for the away win looks good.
