Newcastle may have lost 1-2 at Fulham last week and remain in the relegation zone, but they should feel confident over the coming weeks.
They did deserve to lose the game last week. They showed signs again of their limitations but they are improving and have started to show a different side to them recently; defensively, they look more secure with Coloccini at last seeming to settle down and in attack they have looked dangerous in most games in the past month.
Newcastle had previously won their previous two games and their scoring exploits - they have failed to score just once this season - always gives them a chance.

Wigan lost 0-3 in the Carling Cup on Tuesday against a youthful Arsenal side and, in the Premiership, they lie 17th. A run of four defeats in a row has been halted with a win and a draw in their last two league games, beating Portsmouth 2-1 last week and a dull 0-0 at home to Stoke.
But they have been a little fortunate and the signs have been their throughout the season. They have scored 13 in the league, but 5 of those were in that freakish win at Hull two months ago.
Zaki has 8 goals but has cooled a little recently, with just one goal in five games and that a penalty.
An insight into the history of this fixture is that in the last three years, the home side has won the game, Newcastle winning 3 at St James Park and Wigan three at the JJB.
Wigan have shown themselves to be stubborn - they rarely get beaten soundly - but with Newcastle's and Wigan's differing goal threat, the home win once again looks a good call.
At odds of around $2.00, there is good value in considering this.
