PREMIERSHIP TEAM PREVIEWS
ARSENAL FC
Coach: Arsene Wenger (Fra)
This will be Wenger’s 12th season as Arsenal manager, in which time he has won 3 league titles and four FA Cups, but despite playing some scintillating football in recent years, Arsenal have not won a trophy in the last 3 seasons.
Wenger likes to buy young players with plenty of potential and bags of technical ability; new signings Nasri and Ramsey fit that bill perfectly.
Wenger’s Arsenal are always enjoyable to watch, but with last season’s collapse, they may be too inexperienced to deal with things when they are not going their way.

Good:
New signings Aaron Ramsey and Samir Nasri are typical Wenger signings; young and full of potential. They add to a squad of undeniable talent and players such as Theo Walcott may truly show their potential this season.
Arsenal are one of the best technical sides in the world and this should be evident again theis season. The departure of Jens Lehmann should also benefit Arsenal – his outbursts will not be missed by Wenger.
Bad:
With so many young players, Arsenal’s lack of experience may be a stumbling block as it seemed to be last season; when they go through a slump in form, Arsenal may find it harder to bounce back than the other big sides in the league. Also, their midfield looks a little too slight and physically, Arsenal are lacking somewhat.

Star Player:
Cesc Fabregas, though he only turned 21 in May, already has 138 appearances for Arsenal and 32 caps for the Spanish national team. He has been Arsenal’s main playmaker in the last few seasons and his passing and vision are world-class.
Coming into the season after playing a short, but effective role in Spain’s long-awaited Euro championship win, Arsenal will be hoping he can help end a three-year wait for silverware.

Summary:
For two-thirds of last season, Arsenal played like one of the very best sides in the world and looked likely to win their first title since 2004, until around the time of Eduardo’s horrific injury at Birmingham, and their 0-4 drubbing at the hands of Man Utd in the FA cup, when their league form collapsed.
Their lack of experience may have cost them last year and though Arsenal’s young side are constantly improving and a strong title challenge seems inevitable, the rest of the “big four” may be just that little bit too strong for them in the long-run.
