PREMIERSHIP TEAM PREVIEWS
HULL CITY FC
Coach: Phil Brown (Eng)
Phil Brown gained recognition as the assistant to Colin Todd and then Sam Allardyce at Bolton from 1996 to 2005, before being given the Derby job. At Derby, he was sacked after only 7 months in charge, but was given the Hull manager’s position towards the end of 2006.
Last season, he gained promotion to the Premiership via the play-offs; this season will be Hull’s first in the top flight of English football in their 104 year existence.

Good:
In the Championship last year, the KC stadium became something of a fortress for Hull, and they lost only 3 league games there out of 24. Hull will need to pick up points at home if they are to survive.
Brown has bought well; the Premiership experience of Boateng and Gardner and the talent of Geovanni could serve them well this season.
Bad:
The loss of Man Utd’s on-loan striker Frazier Campbell cannot be overstated; he was essential in their promotion last season, scoring 15 goals – Brown, as yet has still not found an adequate replacement and Caleb Folan and Dean Windass may not be able to compensate.

Transfers, Loans, Retirements...
IN: Peter Halmosi (Plymouth), George Boateng (Middlesbrough), Tony Warner (Fulham), Bernard Mendy (Paris St Germain), Geovanni (Manchester City), Craig Fagan (Derby), Anthony Gardner (Tottenham, loan).

Star Player:
Ian Ashbee signed for Hull in 2002 when the club were in League Two and was made club captain shortly after arriving; like other squad members Andy Dawson, Boaz Myhill and Ryan France, he has seen Hull up the four divisions of the football league.

Summary:
Hull are expected to struggle and are a best price of $1.36 to be relegated. It will take an astonishing season for them to survive; though they have spent well, they are still not strong enough up front and they may struggle to score enough to avoid relegation.
