Star Player:
Steve Savidan, signed for 5millions euros from Valenciennes in the summer, could be key in retaining Caen's presence in the top flight. Having scored 26 league goals in two season in Ligue 1 for his former club, he proved he could make the step up from Ligue 2 football, where he has spent most of his career. He scored 39 goals in 78 games in total during his time at Valenciennes.

Summary:
Home form pushed Caen into mid-table last season; their two away wins all season could have put them in danger and, despite the purchase of Savidan, they'll be hoping not to rely on home form solely this season.
Coupled with the 50 goals+ conceded in 2007/08, expect a battle this season against relegation, though there's enough firepower going forward to suggest they can beat the drop and finish between 15th and 17th.
