LIGUE 1 TEAM PREVIEWS
OGC NICE
Coach: Frederic Antonetti (Fra)
After spells at Bastia and Saint Etienne, Antonetti took over at the Mediterranean club in 2005 and has since led to them to two 8th-placed finishes. Since taking over at Nice, he has a reputation for defensive football and the last three seasons have seen his club involved in games with an average of under 2.00 goals per game.

Star Player:
Olivier Echouafni is the defensive lynchpin in the side, having been converted to a deep-lying midfielder in a side that tries to restrict the opposition from playing. Now in his sixth season and aged 35, this may be his last in a career that has seen him play for Marseille, Strasbourg and Rennes.

Summary:
Bakary Kone and Ederson scored 21 of their meagre 35 league goals last season and they have both left. Antonetti, it seems, will need to rely on the youngsters Remy and Modeste, neither of whom have been particularly prolific in their short careers to date.
Defensively, they shouldn't have many problems, but with no outlet up front and a couple of new faces thrown into midfield, they could invite far too much pressure on themselves. Don't expect any severe thrashings, but 0-1 defeats are still worth no points and without a means of scoring, Nice are more likely to end up closer to where they did in 2006/07. The difference this time, though, is that those draws back then could turn into one-goal defeats.
With a big-name purchase, they can perhaps scrape into the top 13; without, they could be an outside bet for relegation, and may struggle to finish higher than 16th.
