Each of the matches covered in the weekly e-zine have a Preview, concluding with a Recommended Tip, Stake, Odds offered and Suggested Bookmaker.

Preview
The match betting preview looks at each of the team's involved, covering major incidents in the build-up to the game that may affect the result, recent form and general record and stats from the season. The intention of the analysis is to highlight particular statistics that we think will help the punter make a better informed decision. Some of our conclusions you may disagree with, but we hope you find the information and stats uncovered of use whatever your bet. As it's a match betting preview, then the preview is geared towards betting odds and betting opportunities for the game.

Recommended Tip
Some matches are more popular with punters than others, and some matches provide better opportunities than others, but we believe that all games do have betting value in them and realise that many punters want some betting information and stats from as many games as possible. As a result, we do intend to recommend a tip for all games covered, although the preview should make it clearer if the game is tough to call and that smaller stakes be advised. The type of tips recommended varies, but will generally be the following;

Fixed Odds: Simple bet on whether the game results in a Home Win, Draw, Away Win
Asian Handicap: The home or away team is given a handicap (usually 1/2 goal, 1/4 goal, 3/4 goal, 1 1/2 goal, eg) with the intention that this removes the draw. Each betting option (Home Win, Away Win) will normally be offered at roughly equal prices.
Handicap: This bet gives weaker teams 1, 2, 3 goal handicaps. The betting options remain Home Win, Draw, Away Win.
Over/Under: Bet on whether there will be more than or fewer than a certain number of goals in a game. Usually the O/U market is for 2.5 goals.
First/Last goalscorer: Bet on the first/last goalscorer in a game.
Correct score: Bet on the correct score.
Win to Nil: Bet on a the winning team to keep a clean sheet and win.
HT/FT: The result at both half-time and full-time is available in this bet.
Winning Margin: Bet on how many goals the winning team wins by.

Staking scheme
A number of good tipsters fall due to a poorly designed staking plan. The staking plan used in the Betzine previews is designed as a guide only, but based not on Stake but on Return and on a scale of 5 to 20 points. So as not to weight any match too heavily, the games' stakes are assessed in relation to their Return.

Return 5pts to 9pts: Less confident, the game may be difficult to call due to both sides showing a lack of form, or decent betting opportuntities might be quite low. Expect around 15% of games are in this category, though mostly around the 7-9pt mark.
Return 10pts to 12pts: Bit more confident, but slight uncertainty over value or recent form may make the punter wary. Around 40% of games will be in this category.
Return 13pts to 15pts. Returns around this level suggest either that good value is on offer, or that issues identified in the preview hint at a little more confidence in the tip. Around 35% of games will be in this category.
Return 16pts to 20pts: Fairly rare, but will particularly be used in bigger games and in matches where a betting opportunity has been identified that offers very good value. Only around 10% of games are in this category.

Overall, the average game would be a game that returns 12 points. Higher than that suggests a little better confidence or value, whilst lower than that denotes the punter should be a little wary.

The reason for the stress on Return rather than Stake is that it doesn't immediately preclude higher return bets (correct scores, surprise away wins, or even draws at $3.50) from being considered good bets. By looking at the potential return instead and calculating the stake accordingly, there is less ambiguity over the confidence of such higher return tips.

Odds and Bookmaker
Odds are shown in decimal format (2/1 for instance is shown as $3.00) and are the best price on offer from around 25 online bookmakers. This covers the major bookies as well as a number of other respected bookies.
