Despite crashing out of the Euro 2008 qualifiers with some shocking performances (including a 0-1 home loss to Luxembourg), Belarus have have recorded some impressive results against big sides in Holland (2-1), Argentina (0-0), Germany (2-2) and Turkey (2-2).
Yet, almost all of their good results against decent sides recently have been in friendlies or in meaningless games (Holland had already qualified when they lost to Belarus).
Their campaign started with an unfortunate away loss at Ukraine (with a last minute penalty from Shevchenko enough to take the points for the home side), and they followed that with a fortunate win of their own away to Andorra (3-1), scoring two late goals.

England have 3 wins on the trot in group 6 and with two comprehensive wins away to Croatia (4-1) and home to Kazakhstan (5-1) in their last two games, spirits are high in the camp and goals are coming thick and fast; the first half against Kazakhstan left a lot to be desired, but England turned on the style in the second half and in Croatia, they were very impressive.
Rooney has 3 goals in those two games and his return to scoring form for England is a welcome situation for Capello; he could be worth a shout to score anytime in the game at $2.20 from William Hill.
Belarus’ best player, Barcelona midfielder Aleksandr Hleb is injured and he will be missed; apart from him, Belarus do not have any particularly outstanding players and they are hugely inexperienced, with 12 of the remaining 18 in the squad not yet into double figures in caps.
England on current form are understandably short at a best price of $1.42 to win and they shouldn’t disappoint; England have won by more than one goal in all of their wins so far under Capello each time and with confidence high, the handicap win at $2.10 from Bet365 and others could be the option.
