Racing, meanwhile, lost 1-2 at Numancia, throwing away their last minute equaliser by conceding in the 6th minute of injury-time.

In midweek, Racing lost again, 1-2 at Murcia in the Copa del Rey and they now lie 17th with a 1-3-4 record.

Valencia come into this game with a 4-0-0 record at home this year but they could find Racing tough to break down. Last year, Racing finished in 5th and this was down to keeping the game tight; they scored just 42 and conceded 41.

That has been similar to this year, but they are struggling at the scoring end. Defensively, though, they have yet to concede three goals in a game.

This is the sort of game in which Valencia coach Unai Emery was good at dealing with when at Almeria, but Valencia expect a little more ambition and he has the players to attack Racing.
